Frequently Asked Questions

About the Practice

Do I need to be a dancer to practice Go Through?

No. This approach is designed for everyone, regardless of dance experience. In fact, sometimes trained dancers find it harder because they need to unlearn habits of performing and "doing it right."

The practice is about authentic expression and presence, not technical skill.

How is this different from other dance practices?

Go Through combines:

  • Conscious dance practices (5 Rhythms, Ecstatic Dance)
  • Somatic movement (body awareness, anatomy)
  • Trauma work (TIPI, nervous system regulation)
  • Consciousness exploration (meditation, expanded states)
  • Improvisation technologies (William Forsythe's methods)

It's not just about feeling good or expressing emotions - it's a comprehensive framework for becoming more available to your full creative potential.

Can I practice alone?

Yes. Most of the practice is solo. You need:

  • A space where you can move freely
  • Music (playlists provided in resources)
  • 10-60 minutes depending on session type

Group practice is valuable but not required.

Is this spiritual / religious?

Go Through draws on wisdom traditions and consciousness research, but it's not tied to any religion. You can practice from any belief system or none at all.

Think of it as a technology for presence and authentic expression, informed by but not limited to spiritual frameworks.

What if I feel stuck or don't know what to do?

That's exactly what the practice is for. Feeling stuck IS the practice. The book includes specific protocols for working with blocks, resistance, self-consciousness, and the protective voices that keep us stuck.
